Janet Alder has become a pioneer for fighting for justice.

In 1998 Christopher Alder died in police custody. His sister Janet's life was changed forever. Join us as we talk to Janet and Dan about this incredible book, detailing the decades fight for justice for Christopher against an astonishingly corrupt regime.

Defiance. Christopher Alder had been left to die on the floor of Queen's Gardens police station in Hull in 1998, having been dragged unconscious and bleeding from a police van by Humberside police officers. His case would become one of the most notorious 'deaths in custody' in the UK, involving the destruction of evidence and illegal surveillance. Christopher's death changed the life of his sister Janet forever, as she embarked on what would become a decades-long struggle to uncover the truth and demand justice.

Dan Glazebrook is a political writer and journalist. He has written for The Guardian, The Independent, Counterpunch, Z magazine, the Morning Star and Al Ahram. His main subjects are international relations and the use of state violence in British domestic and foreign policy.
