Brighton Book Festival is a new grassroots festival formed by two independent bookshops in Brighton: Afrori Books and The Feminist Bookshop. Our vision is to be a lively and accessible festival centered around our community. In 2023 we have over 60 authors and events covering 5 days. There is something for everyone.

Promote access to diverse literature
Connect readers to books they can see themselves in
Widen participation
Reach and engage audiences in our city and surrounds who would not usually attend literary events
Improve author representation
Model a festival where authors of all backgrounds are given equal platforms and pay
