Newton developed innovative theories for how the most oppressed could spearhead revolutionary change in a rapidly developing technological society. Inspired by his ideas, the Panthers forged alliances with Black student unions and street gangs, Hollywood elites and poor whites, the gay liberation movement and Third World nations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDelio Vá\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003esquez\u003c\/strong\u003e is a scholar of Black studies, philosophy, and social movement history based out of New York University. He has prior taught at American University in Washington D.C., as well as incarcerated students at San Quentin Prison in California and Wallkill Correctional Facility in New York. He has published in various venues on the history and theories of the Black Panther Party, the lived experience of hunger, and criminalized forms of survival and resistance.
