Hurricane Melissa—the most powerful storm of 2025—has become the strongest hurricane to strike Jamaica in modern history. Approx 1.5million people have been affected by loss of life, loss of safe shelter and loss of livelihoods. The damage goes into the billions.
Access to clean drinking water is an issue as natural water sources have become polluted. Afrori Books are joining the effort by asking people to donate money to buy water purification tablets.
Our aim is to get clean water to 16,000 families for one month. Our Brighton family have helped so much by donating physical items through our shop drop off point. Now we are asking our national Afrori family to help. Will you please consider adding a donation to your book purchase today to help families in desperate need?
This fund is in collaboration with the The JN Foundation, established in 1990 as the charitable arm of The Jamaica National Group (JN Group) who are working with Food For The Poor as a part of relief efforts to collect emergency supplies from persons in the UK for donation to vulnerable communities. Both these organisations are official charities endorsed by the government of Jamaica as official partners in the relief programme.
